For those of you who don't know about the Leavitt Tuning, it's (from low to high) C#, E, G, Bb, C and D. It allows you to play 3, 4 and 5 note chords without any slants. The chords are all those cool jazz chords like Dom7 b9, Aug 5th etc etc.
Invented by my friend and boss at Berklee College of Music, William Leavitt, in 1990 shortly before his very untimely death.
I made a promise to him to tell the steel guitar world about his amazing creation and have played at Scotty's convention in St. Louis as well as Gerry Hogans in England.
If you visit my site www.mikeihde.com and go to "other publications" you can hear some examples from my CD "A Different Slant" and TAB book of Jazz standards using this tuning.
If you'd like a free version of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" in this tuning, send me an e-mail and I'll send it to you.
Thanks.
