MessageSujet: Mike NEER's new instructional DVD   Jeu 14 Jan - 17:19

Je me permets de poster cela (Mike l'a envoyé chez "slide & reso")Je pense que ça peut intéresser du monde ici, Mike est un bon, même un très bon steeliste (anciennement "Moonlighters"):

I'm sorry for not posting in French, but I don't want make a fool of myself!

I'm pleased to announced that I'm now taking orders for my new instructional DVD for Non-Pedal Steel Guitar, called "Steelin' From The Masters: Four Wheel Drive." This is a project I worked on for the better part of 2009 and I'm pleased with the final results.

The 80 min. DVD uses Buddy Emmons' "Four Wheel Drive" as a vehicle for learning essential techniques, particularly right hand picking and blocking, as well as bar slanting and delves into some advanced harmonic applications. I would recommend this for intermediate to advanced players, although new players could certainly benefit from it in time. The tuning used in the video is C6 (8 strings).

The DVD is divided into 3 parts: Part 1 focuses on the melody (part of that section is available for viewing at www.mikeneer.com ); Part 2 focuses on the solo; and Part 3 is like a private lesson condensed into a little less than 30 min., where I focus on using some of the licks to create your own ideas. This is for the player who really wants to help you take your playing to the next level and get you improvising more effectively.

If you'd like to find out more, please visit www.mikeneer.com and don't hesitate to email me a mike@mikeneer.com if you have any questions.

Merci.

Certains d'entre nous connaissent bien Mike & sa Bigsby Clinesmith Mr. Green

Coconut Grove

Yellow Roses

Buddy's Boogie

I spent a good 2 hours trying to figure out the tuning of this great track by Noel Boggs and then "Eureka", I got it.
This is one of the most difficult pieces I've played yet, not only because deciphering it was such a bear, but mostly because of how difficult it is to execute.
I recorded a few takes of it and this is one of the imperfect ones, but you can hear what is required to make it happen.
Oh, and by the way, the tuning is B11 (E C# A F# D# C# B ?(string 8 doesn't matter here)). You figure out the rest--I've left many a clue.
This one is going to take a few days of practicing to get it clean enough. This is obviously an early attempt at it, but still I marvel at Noel's ingenuity.

BTW, the whole recording, rhythm guitar, bass and steel only took about an hour and a half to do. The steel used is my Clinesmith through a Princeton Reverb.

Tenderly

For those of you who don't know, I've adapted Four Wheel Drive for 8 string non-pedal and I've compiled an 80 minute DVD which is comprised of the Melody, the Solo, and an informal lesson on how to use some of the licks and harmonic devices learned in the transcription to make them your own. If you are a self-starter with some intermediate to advanced skills, this one is for you. The package will include tab/notation and you'll also have access to a TablEdit file (with MIDI) and a play-along track.

I'm offering a special discount on pre-orders until January 23, which is when I will begin shipping. The special advance price is $24.95 plus shipping ($3.95 domestic and Canada, $13.50 International). After January 23, the price will be $29.95.
