Excel Superb S-12 Universal with 7 and 7. 5 raise and 5 lower changer. Raise helper srping and lower return spring adjusters accessible from the right end plate.

It is keyless, but the guitar is the same length as an Emmons' LeGrande. I don't care for the "chopped off look" of a keyless, sooo.....


















Vertical knee lever does not pivot from side to side. Thus it requires the same amount of knee pressure regardless of where the knee contacts it. Also it is long enough that it can be used with any of the other Left knee levers easily without pinching the top of the knee.

The changer/tuner is on the players left, and the scale length is 30” (25” scale extended 3 frets and tuned to C69. It has 14 strings, and the low string is C1.

This shows the PSG and the contact mike located at the center of the front apron. We will have both the signals from the pickup, and the vibrations at various places in/on the body and associated hardware from the contact mike.

There are several different set ups as I play with tunings and setups like most play songs.

The BEAST = 30" scale is like E69 universal (C# instead of D#, and string 12 is also a C#)...now lower the whole thing to C69.

The Lok is used, and the 13 series tuning is added.

It's the one Buddy had made after he had the basket weave single neck. I think the double was too heavy, I'll ask him and see.

The two bridge pickups acted as a humbucker and could be out of phase, (sort of Strat like.)
The third pickup on the nut end was so that when you turn on the pickup, play in E at the 12th fret and slide down, the notes coming out would go both up and down. (Another one of Buddy's incredible ideas.)
There's a couple places that he used the 3rd pickup on a session, (of course I can't remember where.)
It's an amazing sound. Sort of like playing the unison 2nd string C# and the 5th pedal C# and playing that Half a Mind type lick, only the bend could last an octave.
One of those things you think is overdubbed, but Buddy did it all at once.
