Why not take the opportunity to come to Chanos and play Gospel. Actually Chanos-Curson is a hot bed of Gospel ever since I introduced it in a British variety show performed by my group Hogs'n'Hags in 2004.

I've just looked up the programme and noticed we also did an Hawaiian spot with Steve Hancock on Steel Guitar and myself on rhythm, but the real hot piece was Go Down Moses. HOGSnHAGS 2004

We will be holding two seminars in the morning of Sunday 20 September, one by Ron Kew on playing pedal steel back-up to a singer/song and another by Basil Henriques on playing Hawaiian music on pedal steel

Ron's seminar will be a talk and demonstration and he has prepared documentation and a practice CD as a handout. For those of you planning to attend Ron's seminar I've put together a sample PDF to give you a taste of what to expect. The seminars are free but only open to members of the CISGF Convention.

The song is accompanied in a Jeff Newman style so it is likely that many phrases will be the same as his. I can't understand why you feel the need to confess your embarrassment. All players develop their styles by borrowing their techniques or phrases from others. That's how one progresses. After all it was Picasso who said, "All artists borrow from others but the great artists steal."

By the way the other seminar is on playing Hawaiian style on PSG - I suspect some of the phrases might just sound like Sol Hoopii

You would be better off coming to the CISGF Convention - 12 euros only, take advantage of the free seminars and then give us the benefit of your opinion. There's still time to book a place.
